Latest CUET 2025 Syllabus | List of Dropped Subjects
The fourth edition of CUET (UG) will be conducted in May 2025. The NTA (conducting body for CUET) is yet to announce a detailed timeline for CUET 2025. However, on December 10 2024, UGC announced significant changes in the CUET paper pattern. These changes are unlike any previous corrections or modifications in the paper pattern or structure by the NTA. They are going to influence the students' overall exam experience greatly.
Some notable changes were as follows:
> Decreased subject list from 63 to 37.
> Removed any optional questions; all the questions are mandatory.
> Uniform duration of 60 minutes across all the subjects.
> Limiting the choice for the maximum number of subject choices to 5.
> The general test paper has been renamed as the General Aptitude Test.
One significant change that the latest UGC announcement made to the CUET syllabus is the subject options were reduced to 37. A total of 26 subjects were scrapped from the CUET syllabus.
However, the core subject-wise CUET 2025 syllabus will remain the same (NCERT class 12 syllabus for respective subjects). UGC also released a directive saying that admission to the subjects that have been dropped from CUET 2025 will be based on the students' General Aptitude Test scores. The final section-wise subject counts for CUET 2025 are mentioned below.

> Section II: Domain Subjects (23 subjects)

Dropped Subject List for CUET 2025
There were 33 languages in Section I of CUET, out of which 20 were scrapped for CUET 2025. Now there will be only 13 languages in section I. All the foreign languages have been dropped. Admission to all those courses will be based on the CUET GAT scores.
The final list of subjects in Section I, which will be there in CUET 2025 is as follows:
Earlier, there were 29 subjects in Section II (domain subjects). However, UGC decided to scrap 6 subjects, and there will be only 23 subjects in CUET 2025. Admission to all the UG courses related to the scrapped subjects will be based on the student’s CUET GAT scores.

Students must note all the recent changes announced by the NTA and make changes to their study plans. The most decisive change has been deleting optional questions from the paper.
